Proven Leadership!

Len led the initiative to develop a Strategic Plan for the City of Vacaville.  It  has proven to be a catalyst for citywide accomplishments. The focus now is on public safety, economic development, senior and youth issues, neighborhoods, community pride and enjoyment, city services and citizen participation.

Len is an active council member, a Director of the Travis Regional Armed Forces Executive Committee and a member of the Select Committee on City/Schools Relations.  He is active in numerous service organizations and has strongly advocated rebuilding Downtown Vacaville through projects like the Creekwalk, the Town Square and the expansion of the Senior Center.  Len is firmly committed to helping small businesses succeed and he supports the redevelopment of the Nut Tree properties. 

Len chaired the Friends of Vacaville Schools committee which successfully campaigned for Measure V which will  build a new high school and renovate all the schools in the Vacaville Unified School District.  It passed with a supermajority vote of 67.5%. 

An active Vacaville Chamber of Commerce member, Len is a member of the Business Issues committee, serves on the Cowtown Classic golf committee, and participates in most mixers and grand openings.

Accomplishments

  • Initiated Vacaville’s first ever Strategic Plan

  • Promoted Public Safety as the top priority of the Strategic Plan (Vacaville is now reported to be the second safest city of its size in California)

  • Supported Vacaville’s preservation of the hills through the acquisition of open space.

  • Developed the idea of a Town Square (a new library and retail & restaurant spaces are scheduled to begin in the Downtown area this year)

  • Led the charge to pass Measure V (the $101.3 million school bond). The first four schools, Ulatis and Alamo Elementary Schools, Willis Jepson Middle School and Vacaville High School are well underway.

  • Helped create the Commission on Aging and the Senior Roundtable

  • Has been a careful watchdog of the city’s budget

  • Worked diligently to preserve the viability of Travis Air Force Base and to bring new C-17 aircraft to the base.

  • Has led Vacaville’s effort to provide military personnel with affordable housing.

  • Brought new jobs to Vacaville by encouraging businesses like the Travis Credit Union to locate in our city
